Ilmesters An IB World School

IB Primary Years Programme

Introduction to PYP

Ilmesters is authorized to deliver IBPYP since 2012. Primary Years Programme is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12. It prepares students for the intellectual challenges of further education and their future careers, focusing on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) provides a curriculum framework of essential elements — the knowledge, concepts, ATLs, attributes, and action that young students need to equip them for successful lives, both now and in the future. The curriculum is transdisciplinary, meaning that it focuses on issues that go across subject areas.
The PYP aims to create a curriculum that is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant for learners. PYP students are well prepared for the next stage of education, including participation in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP is taught to 11-16-year-olds.

PYP at Ilmesters

Ilmesters’s elementary section piques learners' innate curiosity and provokes imagination to explore the world around them.
The nurturing environment and play-based methodology in the Early Years (ages 3-5) develop students as creative individuals who are ready to take risks and can think constructively. The teaching style gives paramount importance to students’ social, physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.
The primary section from grades 1 to 5 (ages 5-11) are provided an appropriate environment to develop a passion for learning and become lifelong learners. Through hands-on activities and an inquiry approach, learners develop skills and knowledge to become successful in their upcoming academic years.
The transdisciplinary nature of the curriculum allows students to go beyond the subject boundaries and make authentic connections enabling them to understand how the world functions. This also motivates them to analyze global issues, collaboratively work to propose solutions and take appropriate action within their means to contribute to making the world a better place.
Co-curricular activities are an integral part of the Ilmesters environment. Visual art, performances, and sporting activities are all part of the school activities for students’ holistic development. English is the working language of the school and Urdu is taken as language acquisition from kindergarten 1. A foreign language is also introduced after Grade 3 so that students are given opportunities to be multilingual.
